I Eat Poets’ Words for Dinner
“But when I seek a kindred spirit excited to chew the fatty gristle of the English language, I often have to scramble out of the trenches and run to the nearest poet.”
Johanna Ziegler is a writer who enjoys forcing absurdity and sincerity to coexist in her work. Such work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, the Shirley Jackson Award, Best American Short Stories, and Best of the Net (the most exciting news to pop up in her inbox thus far). You can find her writing in Broken Antler Magazine, The Gravity of the Thing, The Eyre, and other literary corners of the internet. Her short films and one-act plays have shown at festivals across the country. Originally from a crispy part of California, she graduated with honors from the University of South Dakota and is now earning her MFA in fiction at the University of New Orleans while working as the contest coordinator for the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival.
