The Poet to the Nun
By Anna Elkins
“In my language, earth / is an anagram for heart / (& angels glean / integrals & triangles / & lighted delight.)”
Anna Elkins is a traveling poet and painter. She earned a BA in art & English and an MFA in poetry. At the turn of the millennium, she was “scholarshipped” to Germany on a Fulbright Fellowship where she wrote ekphrastic poetry about New Media art. She then worked as a web journalist, ghostwriter, and editor from the Swiss Alps to the Spanish seas. After that came many years of wandering: curating an art gallery in the US, moving to a tiny island in Micronesia to teach literature, and then returning to the mainland to study prophetic art and poetry. In 2012, she began freelancing full time. She has written, painted, and taught on six continents—publishing a few books and exhibiting many paintings along the way. She lives with her easel and writing desk in the mythical State of Jefferson.
