Jade Cho is from Oakland, California. She is a 2022-2024 Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University and her poetry has appeared in Apogee, BOAAT, The Offing and elsewhere. She began writing in Bay Area youth and collegiate slam poetry spaces, competing at Brave New Voices and College Unions Poetry Slam and placing top ten in the nation with her teammates. She holds degrees from UC Berkeley (BA Ethnic Studies), where she studied and taught in Poetry for the People, and Arizona State University (MFA Creative Writing), where she served as a June Jordan Teaching Fellow. The granddaughter of Hoisanese 台山人 immigrants, she is working on a book tracing memory, grief, and desire through the archive of Chinese Exclusion and the Chinese Confession Program.
