Michelle Moncayo is a poet and artist in New Jersey – by way of Ecuador and Dominican Republic. She has received fellowships and residencies from SPACE at Ryder Farm, Vermont Studio Center, CantoMundo, Sundress Academy for the Arts, and VONA. Her work has appeared in No Tender Fences: An Anthology of Immigrant & First Generation American Poetry, Ninth Letter, The Acentos Review, and Winter Tangerine Review. She is a poetry reader for BOAAT Journal. Michelle is working on a self-portrait project exploring mental illness, diaspora, and queerness. Michelle received her BA from Rutgers University where she received Honorable Mention for the Academy of American Poets’ Enid Dame Memorial Prize, and the Evelyn Hamilton Award.
